Australia with my KIT L80

14 December 2017 | By |

John recently toured for 40 days through Australia.

I purchased the Aevon KIT L80 (sans wheel) from Cycloboost in France and I fitted a 20” wheel with a 250W hub motor.

I caught the train from home to Mount Victoria, assembled the trailer then headed for Lithgow.

From Lithgow I rode to Oberon then Bathurst, Blayney, Orange, Molong, Wellington, Dubbo, Gilgandra, Tooraweenah, Warrumbungle National Park, Coonabarabran, Binnaway, Black Stump, Coolah, Cassilis, Merriwa, Sandy Hollow, Denman, Bulga, Wollombi, Wisemans Ferry then home.

I travelled over 1400km mostly on paved roads, but around 200km on corrugated gravel and sandy roads.

It snowed and sleeted in Orange on my first rest day. It rained 3 times in the month I was on the road, twice at night and on my last day whilst riding home, for about half an hour.
I experienced temperatures from -3°C to 36°C.

I saw an echidna, wombat, kangaroos (they nearly ran me over), emus, wild goats, rabbits and fox.

The Kit L80 bike trailer performed beautifully, most of the time I forgot it was there. The quick release hitch made it it easy when I needed to unlatch the trailer. The bag kept the rain and dust out.

Around the world by bike

5 December 2017 | By |

Amédée prepared his trip around the world by cycling around Portugal this summer, with 3000km, 90km a day depending on the weather.

How did you choose the countries you’re going to visit ?
I chose them depending on the weather. Cold countries are not for me. I will begin with South America and Central America. Then I’d like to visit New-Zealand and meet some friends in Australia. Finally I dream of seeing Auroville in India, it’s a spiritual community that has been created about 50 years ago.

What is your everyday budget ?
About 30€ per day. In France that would be difficult but abroad I will be quite confortable. Usually, I like to have a good meal at noon and at night I just nibble on something before fixing my tent between the trees. For this trip, I sold my house, so I should be able to travel for a year and a half, maybe more.

Why the tent in the trees ?
When you go wild camping, you usually don’t find a nice flat spot. By fixing my tent between 2 trees, I’m sure I will have a good night’s sleep. And I tie my bike underneath.

How did you decide to go on a bike trip ?
Very sporty, I used to run. After an injury, I had to find another activity and began to cycle, especially with my MTB. I thought it might be a nice way to travel. Travelling alone will enable me to meet more people and be totally free with my schedule.

And you have chosen to travel with an Aevon trailer ?
After my trip to Portugal, I even changed my mind and chose the electric trailer ! So I left my KIT L80 to go with the STD 100 équiped with a 1000w motor. For me 90km a day is not enough. I’d like to make 150km a day.

In terms of autonomy, you can reach up to 100km and even more, depending on the capacity of the battery.

If you are a bike traveller, the trailer can increase the distance of your trips and get you even further.
Daily, the electric trailer can replace your car to carry your purchases. For professionals, it becomes easy to move from one place to the next with material or to make deliveries.

The Aevon bike trailer is able to carry up to 45kg on roads and up to 35kg on MTB tracks. Its aluminium frame is designed for an intensive use and the hitch system on the seat post enables your trailer to follow you on any type of track.

Eurobike 2015

7 September 2015 | By |

You were a lot to visit us at the Eurobike, in Friedrichshafen this year. The Eurobike is the biggest bike exhibition in Europe.

You tested the electric bike trailer 250w and we enjoyed your reactions :
‘I can’t feel the weight of the trailer, it’s amazing!’
‘It really pushes the bike, just like when your parents teach you to ride when you’re little.’
‘I could travel for miles with such help and go for longer trips.’

The electric bike trailer is the combination of the STD 100, able to carry up to 145l, the motor (from 250w to 1000w) and the battery (36v to 48v).
The UNO 100 (road trailer) and the KIT L80 (foldable trailer) can also accept a motor, up to 250w.

You doubt the performances of the electric trailer ? Come and meet us in Bordeaux or at the Eurobike next year.

Set up on the STD 100, the electric motor can push the trailer at 20km/h (30km/h if you pedal) with an autonomy of about 100km.

The use is easy as pie. With a throttle set on the handlebar, give a little push when you need it, uphill or on difficult tracks.
Carry up to 45kg of luggage, for a self-sufficient adventure !

A Uno 100, from Asia to Canada

18 March 2014 | By |

Till and Claudine have travelled by bike for more than 8000km and 8 months in all.

They chose the Uno 100 trailer for its reliability and its easy handling. “The hitch under the seat of the bike enables us to make a U-turn easily, a main asset on all Aevon trailers !”

Their travels led them to South-East Asia and to West Canada and deeply changed them.

“From our travels, Claudine (my wife) and I would have so many things to say, so I will use the words of someone else to say that “travelling is a way of discovering yourself through the others“. The bike triggers sympathy, and it is even more true with a bike trailer (especially in Asia…)”

Claudine and Till are now planning their next trip in the USA, from Seattle to San Francisco, with their UNO 100.
