Where can I travel from November to February ?

13 November 2019 | By |

Winter is slowly settling in at Aevon in France. Temperatures are even dropping to zero in a few days !

Would you like to travel by bike and Aevon bike trailer now, to avoid the crowds ?
What are the best spots to go to from November to February ?

South America

Argentina

Argentina is located in the South hemisphere, which means seasons are reversed. The country is so large that you can find climates completely different from North to South.
Let’s concentrate on the area around Buenos Aires. The hottest month of the year is January with days at 30°degrees. Prefer Spring to visit this part of the country, from September to December. It’s the rainy season from November but usually these quick showers don’t last.

Mexico

The months of October and November are the months to pick to go to Mexico. You’ll avoid the rainy season but also the heat from the arid plateaus in the North. Temperatures are also nice at this period on the seaside.

Australia

From December to January, it’s summer in the South of Australia. Temperatures are perfect to visit the area and enjoy nights in the open. However, you’d better avoid the center of the country, very hot. On the contrary, the North could be particularly rainy then.

Asia

Laos

The dry season lasts from November to March. Temperatures are nice and you don’t feel as much dampness. It’s the ideal time to visit and play the tourist.

Vietnam

There is a difference between the North and the South of the country.
If you’re travelling from November to December, choose the North of the country. Temperatures are cool, especially at night. You’ll avoid the heat and violent rains from July and August.
If you’re travelling from December to February, choose the South of the country. You’ll get a dry and sunny weather, ideal to pedal in the best conditions.

South Europe

Some countries from theSouth of Europe and the Mediterranean bassin enjoy nice weather in Winter : Crete for example. The weather is mild and you’ll avoid the crowds of tourists.

In Pablo’s footsteps

After Panama City, Bertrand immediately found a boat for him, his bike and his Aevon STD 100 trailer.

His goal was to stay for a few days in Panama City to organise his passage to Colombia by boat.

An agency offered him a trip of 5 days with a detour by the San Blas islands for 550$, a little too expensive. Finally, Santiago, a Colombian offers a departure the next day in the afternoon. Bertrand has to leave early to get to Puerto Lindo

To save some time on the road, I try to shorten the trip. The idea is to cycle on the highway, it will shorten the trip by 20km. In many of these countries, a bike on the highway is not unusual.

At the toll booths, the guy doesn’t even lift his eye from his phone. A few kilometers after that, I cycle past a police station on the side of the road. No reaction.

A few kilometers later, a pick up overtakes me and an officer asks me to stop… The next exit is 25km away but he asks me to get out of the highway immediately. I really need to get to the next exit. He tells me to put my bike and my STD 100 trailer in the pick up. I enjoy 25km in an air-conditionned pick up before getting back on the road under a rain that won’t leave me until I reach my destination…’

Bertrand passes by the sole WIFI post of the village, no message from Santiago, no news.
The end of day slowly arrives, he decides to go to the marina to explain his situation. The captain of the sailing boat ‘La Sangria’ accepts to take him on board.

I will work on the sailing boat until we reach Cartagena. The boat leaves early in the morning after a night of heavy rains, winds and thunderstorms that were raging a few days ago above the islands of Saint Martin, Saint Barth & Barbuda…’
voyage à vélo

Bertrand spends 3 days sailing between the San Blas islands with a few stops along the way to admire the landscape. On his way, he see Santiago’s boat a little farther up…
At Cartagena, it’s the day of the pope’s visit. The captain offers Bertrand to sleep on the boat as long as he needs as he’s not planning to leave until October 18th.

The STD 100 around the lake of Constanz

11 September 2015 | By |

Michel went on a bike trip around the lake of Constanz with his STD 100 trailer. He shares his story :

‘It’s natural to share my experience, having myself enjoyed from the experience of others on the internet. Back from a tour around the lake of Constanz, here are my impressions : I don’t feel the trailer on flat roads whether on the road or cross country. When I wanted to attach the bike the first time, I reduced the load : when the trailer is loaded over the top it tends to tip over. When it’s loaded at the level of the upper tube, it’s alright (25kg for the load, 8kg for the trailer and the bag).

Some websites tell you to travel lightly, others advise to limit the load up to half the weight of your body, I took note of these recommendations. At the first long hill, the only one in fact, I was happy to get to the top and to have reduced the load before that.

– To make it easier to attach the hitch, I put the bike and trailer on their side. It seemed easier than holding the bike in one hand and the trailer in the other.

– The shock absorber works perfectly, considering the sensations.

As I have seen elsewhere, don’t think you will bring more than in side bags but it’s definitely better in terms of balance.
As for the size, I could go up the stairs in a station (with some help) and I got on the boat.
If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t change a thing, no regrets, only pleasure and energy spent.
I’m looking into the next trips already.
Thanks Aevon Team.’

The KIT L80 : best trailer worldwide !

22 May 2015 | By |

For their special edition, the magazine Carnets d’Aventure, specialized in non-motorized trips, has tested 10x bike trailers from different brands.

Strength, handling, riding comfort, volume and weight were the main criteria.

The KIT L80 gets the best rating thanks to its excellent behaviour in cross country use, its strength, its weight and the hitch on the seat post.
The only failing could be that it’s not the easiest to set up.

The KIT L80 is the only bike trailer, worldwide, which is made in aluminium and can be folded. You can easily bring it with you in your trips around the world.

Now it also exists as an electric trailer 250w !
